NC Math 1
MVP Curriculum
Wake County Public Schools has gone to a new curriculum developed by MVP. Generally, students are given tasks and real life situations to introduce a concept and they work together on finding potential solutions. The teacher facilitates and monitors the discussions. Students are often asked to share their insights. As students work through concepts, they will will continue to spiral review and upcoming concepts.
HomeworkIn NC Math 1, students will have homework on a regular basis. The pace of this course makes it absolutely necessary for homework in order to complete the entire course before taking the EOC. This homework will be completed in workbooks. If students do not complete the homework, they will miss significant practice for each concept.

Quizzes and TestsStudents can expect frequent tests and quizzes. Each unit will take roughly 1-2 weeks.

Brain and learning conceptsA big part of this curriculum is to get students to problem solve. Research shows that the struggle of working through challenging problems is the best way to learn and increase their ability to learn.
